I know I’m a dork but..

I posted my first “recipe” on YouPhood. Not a terribly complicated one, but that’s all I had time for tonight.

What can I say? I like to putter around in the kitchen. I’ll post more.

WHY!

Why is it Summer Glau always seems to take roles where she’s dispassionate and alienated?

First Firefly / Serenity.
Then 4400.
Now Terminator.

Don’t get me wrong, I think she does each of the roles great / different / etc. Tess is very different from River, etc. I’m not too fond of her Terminator character, but whatever. Surely she has greater depth than this? I can’t tell if she’s always this wooden, or if people just seem to find wooden roles for her. Certainly a Google image search shows some very animated, happy looking pictures of her.

Regina Spektor is hot

I found about Regina from a friend of a friend. I promptly spent the next two hours pouring through her YouTube site and her website, watching her videos. I even (gasp) bought one of her two CDs (Begin to Hope) at BestBuy when I wandered through the other day.

Stop and let that sink in a moment.

I. Bought. A. Retail. CD.

In this day of Itunes and Ipods and digital music stores and Limewire and IRC, I actually thought enough of this girl’s music to stop and buy the whole CD. I think the last CD I bought was Stone Sour, who promptly turned into one hit wonders. Maybe that doesn’t speak much for my taste in music, but who cares.

My only regret is that I didn’t get her other CD (Soviet Kitsch), and that there’s no way I’m going to be able to make her next show in Atlanta on the 28th.

And the circle comes round again..

I can’t say that relaunching this site was an easy decision. I’ve put a lot of work over the years into the old version, but it had finally grown so large and scattered I couldn’t maintain it. Worse yet, it felt like it didn’t fit me anymore.

I’m not saying this new version is perfect, or that it will last any longer than the previous did. But it has purpose, which the old site sorely lacked. The new site is a vehicle for my photo gallery, a way to track my fitness trials and tribulations, and catalogue the weird and wonderful that I’ve stumbled across in 10 years of internet. It is not, in any way, a “blog”.

Who’s into labels these days anyway?

My parents promised my niece a new BuildABear for good grades. They were both sick so she and I went instead. She charmed everyone at Stix (sushi/hibachi place) using her little trainee chopsticks.
